THE TRUTH ABOUT
CLARA ANDRIOLA

WHO IS CLARA ANDRIOLA?
A WASHOE COUNTY RESIDENT SINCE 1988

An entrepreneur, a friend to business, and a community advocate

Clara Andriola rode the digital revolution to success when she started teaching new technologies. Before long, she’d built the largest business-to-business training operation in the region. Later, she turned her attention to the nonprofit world, where the every-day mission was helping people with a specific need. Through it all, Clara’s gotten to know Washoe County very well, and Washoe County knows Clara.

CLARA IS RELIABLY CONSERVATIVE ON THE ISSUES

Check Out Her Voting Record

After a year in the seat, Clara has 466 votes under her belt (and counting).  Among them:

She voted to professionalize the library board.

She halted a proposal to allow marijuana lounges to operate in Washoe.

She stood squarely behind law enforcement, every time.

Clara’s voted with her Republican colleagues 432 times, or about 93 percent of the time.

She brings civility and reason to the job, working well with a Democratic chairwoman and a 3-2 split. Clara collaborates when she can, and when it’s time to fight, she fights.

SHE’S GOT HER FEET ON THE GROUND

While earning praise up-and-down the ladder – all the way to the top.

Clara’s worked side-by-side with community leaders who praise her integrity and her work ethic. Not surprisingly, she came to mind when Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo had to fill an empty Washoe County Commission seat.

After a year on the job, she’s earned the Governor’s endorsement.

“Clara Andriola has spent her career fighting for small businesses and local charities,” says the Governor. “She’s always willing to put in the work, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse Clara for County Commission.”

Clara has friends and supporters across Washoe County, because they know she’s the right choice for the job.

HERE’S WHAT CLARA IS DOING FOR WASHOE COUNTY

Reducing government overreach, boosting freedom, promoting transparency.

LIGHTENING THE LOAD ON BUSINESS

Clara brings significant business experience to the job. She stands ready to review regulations, streamline processes, and eliminate duplicate demands from government agencies. She’s dedicated to eliminating laws that make it harder to do business in Washoe County.

BOOSTING FREEDOM AND PROPERTY RIGHTS

Clara wants Washoe residents to live their lives as they please, with a minimum of government intrusion. She is a strong property rights advocate. Clara’s district is populated heavily by horses and horse owners who appreciate her fight against stringent ordinances that have chilled their community’s activities. Clara is working to secure the rights of both leisure-time enthusiasts and equine business owners.

TAKING THE LEAD ON BUDGET TRANSPARENCY

Clara is working with State Controller Andy Matthews to produce a version of his online Nevada Checkbook. “The Washoe County Checkbook” will be a complete online record of county spending, available to everyone.

FUNDING LAW ENFORCEMENT

Clara has voted repeatedly to support the police, and she’s proud to have won the endorsement of virtually every law enforcement organization in the state. She’s given the nod to new equipment for the Sheriff’s Department, and to beefing up the FBI’s Northern Nevada Child Exploitation Task Force. When there was a chance to increase uniformed personnel for Incline Village, Clara jumped on it.

FIXING OUR ROADS

One of the County Commission’s most important jobs is attending to our infrastructure. Clara voted to clean and repair Kietzke Lane, and she supported infrastructure improvements for Gerlach and Sidehill Drive.

REDUCING OUR HOMELESS POPULATION

Looking west to California’s major cities, Clara sees a cautionary tale. She knows addressing homelessness will reduce the cost of welfare services, keep the tourists coming our way, and ensure our police have time to do their real job.  Clara is a staunch advocate for helping Nevadans gain skills and return to living independently. She consistently supports the Cares Campus, and she’s often been the deciding vote to advance its work.
